Athena Aktipis has a PhD in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and is currently a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Arizona’s Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Her research focuses on questions about the how individuals acquire of information from the world, the integrate that information, and use it to effectively interact with the world. She employ agent-based simulations of behavior, focusing especially on simple rules underlying cooperation and social interaction. Her academic interests in social behavior and the importance of spatial dynamics have been strongly influenced by my interests in dance and social movement.
